Claudia Morales es escritora, investigadora y docente. Autora de No habrá retorno (Premio Nacional de novela breve Rosario Castellanos 2015) y de Cálao Bicorne (2023), obra próxima a ser traducida al portugués. En 2024 fue galardonada con el Premio de Literatura Internacional, Literal Latin American Voices organizado por Literal Magazine, por Lacandona Speed. Este concurso premia a un manuscrito escrito en español tanto en Canadá como en Estados Unidos. Lacandona Speed es conjunto de cuentos que será publicado próximamente por Literal Publishing. Su escritura explora la violencia, el lenguaje y las fronteras entre lo humano y lo no humano.
Actualmente imparte clases de escritura creativa en el MFA en Escritura Creativa de la Dominican University of California y desarrolla el proyecto Los sobrevivientes del tren, una investigación narrativa sobre migración, discapacidad y testimonio.
Estudió Lengua y Literaturas Hispánicas en la UNAM, así como el curso de guion cinematográfico y cuento en la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Obtuvo el doctorado en Antropología Médica por la Universidad de Massachusetts, Amherst. Fue becaria de la Fundación para las Letras Mexicanas en narrativa (2015) y becaria Fullbright entre 2016 y 2019.
Ha publicado el libro de cuentos Hospitalidad (2014) y No habrá retorno (2015, reeditado por Los Libros del Perro en 2021). Su obra breve ha sido incluida en antologías como Mexicanas (2022), Ficción Atómica (2020), y traducida al inglés y al portugués en revistas como The Offing Magazine (2022), Rio Grande Review (2022) y Latin American Literature Today (2024), entre otras. . Claudia Morales is a writer, researcher, and teacher. She is the author of No habrá volver (Rosario Castellanos National Short Novel Prize, 2015) and Cálao Bicorne (2023), a work soon to be translated into Portuguese. In 2024, she was awarded the Literal Latin American Voices International Literature Prize, organized by Literal Magazine, for Lacandona Speed. This competition recognizes a manuscript written in Spanish in both Canada and the United States. Lacandona Speed is a collection of short stories soon to be published by Literal Publishing. Her writing explores violence, language, and the boundaries between the human and the nonhuman.
She currently teaches creative writing classes in the MFA in Creative Writing at the Dominican University of California and is developing the project "The Train Survivors," a narrative investigation about migration, disability, and testimony.
She studied Hispanic Language and Literature at UNAM, as well as film scriptwriting and short story writing at the Complutense University of Madrid. She earned her PhD in Medical Anthropology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She was a Foundation for Mexican Letters Fellow in narrative (2015) and a Fulbright scholar from 2016 to 2019.
She has published the short story collection "Hospitality" (2014) and "There Will Be No Return" (2015, reissued by Los Libros del Perro in 2021).
